Massage / Acne Treatment
Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a common, chronic skin disorder that affects most teenagers, and about 20% of adults as well. Acne treatment is one of the most commonly performed procedures at Q Esthetics Laser Clinic.
Causes of Acne
Acne usually occurs on the face, chest, back, and shoulders as well. It is caused by many factors. The root cause is the abnormal development of cells inside the hair follicles in the skin, which leads to the clogging of hair follicles, excess production of oil (or sebum), and accumulation of bacteria. These bacteria build-up then causes inflammation and pain. Adult acne can be caused by disorder of the hormones, and can also be related to childbirth, etc.
Different Types of Acne
Acne may form in many different appearances including:
Whiteheads (closed comedones)
Blackheads (open comedones)
Cysts (deep nodules)
Tired of unsuccessfully trying everything available to get rid of your acne? Now there's an effective acne treatment recommended by many dermatologists. Our Palomar Starlux 500 system is the first device that obtained the FDA's approval for "Acne Clearing"! Many patients require just a few treatments to completely eliminate their acne problems, and after just one treatment skin may be drastically improved.†
How the acne treatment works?
The Palomar Starlux System works on active acne by eliminating the acne bacteria. It is often beneficial to individuals with very resistant acne such as cystic acne who have not had success with medications. The†IPL short wavelength is easy for absorption by porphyrins; this destroys the acne bacteria for a quick clearance of current acne breakouts. The longer wavelength can penetrate deeper into the hyperactive sebaceous glands and slow down their metabolism to prevent future acne from forming.
What is the acne treatment like?
The†IPL acne hand-piece gently and quickly flashes a high-intensity light onto targeted areas of your skin. You may experience a slight stinging as you are being treated, but most people do not experience this as painful. Your skin may be slightly red after the†IPL acne treatment. This temporary redness, which may look and feel like a slight sunburn, may last a few hours to a few days. It is recommended that you wear a sunscreen following treatment to protect your skin. After treatment, the acne blemishes shrink and become less noticeable and then fade after approximately one week.
Following the acne treatment, the specialist may recommend a skin care product to speed up the recovery. At Q Esthetics Laser Clinic, we offer the innovative Obagi, Revision and PCA Skin Care products recommended by dermatologists and acne specialists.
